How do you meditate? I start by sitting in the closest position to the lotus position that I can get, and doing some deep breathing exercises to relax my body. I rest my hands on my thighs while doing the breathing exercises, and it is actually very comfortable to me to sit like this. The most important part of meditation, as I was taught by a Buddhist priest many years ago, is when you close your eyes, that they be pointed toward you third eye, which is located in the middle of your forehead. The priest told us that it is very important that we be looking toward the inner light that our 3rd eye gives off in our minds while we meditate, and that should be our minds focus when we first start to meditate. So that is what I do today.
After I have done the deep breathing exercises, and I have set my eyes to constantly look at my inner 3rd eye's light, then I just relax, and say a silent prayer to the Power's That Be. You can pray to anyone that you want to in this step, as long as you believe in them. The next part of meditation, in the way that I do it, is waiting for the answer to the prayer. I will just wait in silence for some sort of sign or answer to my prayer to come to me in my mind or otherwise. Sometimes my answer will come to me immediately, and sometimes it won't come for days. That is something that no one can predict. But I usually do get an answer, so that is nice. And that's how I meditate.
