What are dreams to you? Are they always only the subconscious mind organizing and working out what is happening in the physical world, or is there more to dreams? What do you think?

I think dreams are usually just the subconscious decompressing. But I also believe in prophetic dreams and astral travel.
I've always felt that especially vivid dreams of the dead were visits from them. Of course, that doesn't really explain the one I had of Stevie Ray Vaughan...

I believe that for the most part dreams are the subconscious decompressing. But, since I have had cool things happen concerning dreams, I also think that once in a while dreams be signs of some sort from our Higher Selves, or even from the Divine. I have even shared dreams with others! The dream that I shared with Dean wasn't a profound dream. Although it was a very realistic seeming dream where we went on a vacation to the ocean together. In the dream we went out to dinner and both of us ordered lobster. Dean didn't like his lobster, so I finished his. Quite awhile after I had this dream, Dean and I got into an argument about the time he said that he tried lobster at the ocean and didn't like it, LOL! I told him that we had never had lobster at the ocean except in a dream that I had had. He wouldn't believe me. It took me half an hour to finally get him to realize that somehow we had shared that dream about the ocean and that we really hadn't gone. And to this day, he is convinced that he doesn't like lobster, even though he has never tried it in real life! Crazy man! ;D And this was all because of a very realistic dream that we shared!

I've had dreams that have warned me about people, some years ago I was in the initial stages of a relationship with a work colleague, and I dreamed that a female colleague was in a crowd and she managed to separate us....I won't go into details but she interfered a lot in that relationship and it never really got off the ground, I kept her close to me as a friend tho, it's true when they say you keep your friends close and your enemies closer I try not to read too much into my dreams, but I think I should keep a diary in case any of them do turn out to be prophetic ha ha ;D

I am a devout believer in the possiblility and the messages that dreams bring to you. I have always payed attention to the message in most of my dreams. It also helped that my grandmother was extremely good at deciphering the meaning of most of my dreams. She taught me at a young age to know the difference between the past, present, and future dreams. From there I learned to astral travel when I dream. Sharing dreams with another is also an interesting habit that I have gotten into. So yes I do pay a lot of attention to my dreams. They have forwarned me of dangers and lessons that I needed in life.

I had a dream last night that involved a friend of mine. I haven't spoken to her in well over a year, and she's the kind of person who makes me feel guilty when we fall out of touch.....anyway, in this dream, she sent me a long text, saying that although we hadn't been in touch she hoped we were still friends, and she went on to tell me that her youngest daughter had a heart condition, and she was having marital problems....I awoke from this dream and checked my cell-phone and there was a text....but I was still dreaming....and it went on from there....
so now I am undecided whether to contact her, if I do and there is nothing wrong, I will no doubt receive a caustic response, and to be honest I'm the kind of person who likes a quiet life, I have moved away from where I used to live, and work in a different area, and I always found her friendship very draining on me....but I feel as though I should make the effort (sigh)
I think I'll sleep on it again......

Wow, Fairlady, I would be curious to see if my dream was true or not. Knowing me I would end up calling to see if it was. Even if the friendship was a trying one. It sounds to me like your superconscious might be trying to get through to your conscious mind in your dreamstate. How exciting!

Yeah, it is hard to know when your dreams are actually telling you something that you need to know versus just working out something in your sleep. I still don't have it right all of the time yet, doh! But I applaud you for getting in touch with her anyway. You could be right on this time.

I have had many dreams that I can remember - some very prophetic - once I was able to translate it. Others very straightforward. I do keep a journal as some... well I'm still trying to figure them out - these are ones that Jimmy is in and I have no idea what they mean.
I had one that was very prophetic.. when Princess Diana was alive and pregnant with her 2nd son I remember reading that people were taking bets on what she would name this son. I had a dream that night that i was invited to an affair where Princess Diana was. When I arrived I saw my date. It was an old boyfriend. Now mind you I was happily married and hadn't seen this old flame in a very long time. His name... Harry. I wasn't too suprised when Diana had her son and named him Harry. :-)
I can handle the simple dreams but these others with Jim and/or Robert.. lots of symbolism in them and honestly my gut says it's me searching for enlightment in some way but... I dunno I'm not good in the translation department. LOL
I think my favorite dream and this was from 5 years ago (I can still see it so clearly) that makes me smile was my dancing with the gods and goddess' under the light of the moon by the one tree. It was so amazing and I felt so free. I was so sad when it ended and they left and went into the mountain. I still don't know what it all meant but just the memory of it still brings a smile.

It sounds like you have some really cool dreams Bobairy. I do too. We are lucky to be able to remember them so vividly. I need to start a dream journal of my own in order to start learning to interpret my dreams better myself.

I just started the journal and mostly the ones in there are the ones that I can still recall (to some degree). Again, usually its Jimmy. Trust me... some of these just don't make sense to me. The only person that came close to making any sense about the Jim dreams is that she said Jimmy is a representation of my majickal side trying to come out. Since to me when I think of him I think of majick. She seems to think its me trying to come to terms with that side of myself. The dreams are very cryptic - one I believed had to do with reincarnation (gut instinct says so). I need to get a really good book of interpretations.. methinks. :-)

Yes, I had a book on intreptations, but I need to find it again. You could be right about how Jimmy symbolizes your magickal side. That wouldn't surprise me. Or it could be the 2 of you connecting in the astral in some way as well, because you have thought so much about him while you were awake. We are all connected in one way or the other, and I believe that we connect with a lot of people on the astral in our dream state. Some we know in our physical reality, and some we don't. So if you focus on someone hard enough while you are awake, you could very easily connect with them on the astral level while you are sleeping. We have many different aspects to our selves, some that we are not even aware of. Just a thought.
