I believe that it is important before one sit's and does creative visualizations and meditations to clear one's energy. I was lucky enough to go to a set of classes on getting in touch with one's psychic side. One of the first things that we were taught was a mental way to clear our auric energy that I have found to be very handy over the years. It is visualization that I was taught that works quite well for me. I visualize that I am walking on a path way going through a forest on my way to a secluded cave in the woods where I can be completely alone. I come to the rock wall of the cave, and there is a doorway. I enter the doorway, and look around the entryway. I am looking for other people's energy, that always looks like the people themselves to me, standing in the cave. If I see anyone's form standing in the cave, I banish it into white light, and it has to go. I can then proceed knowing that my energy has been cleansed of any other person's influence. Then I will go into my prayers or meditations to manifest more of what it is I feel I want to bring into my life. Slowly but surely, things are starting to turn around and go back in the right direction again. And I thought I would share this mental way of clearing one's energy. There are many other ways of clearing ones energy. Any one wish to share any of what you do to keep your energy cleansed?

I find simple is best. A lot of my practice involves doing mundane tasks with specific intent. (It's a kitchen witch thing.) F'ex: When I take a shower, I'll visualize all the unwanted crap washing down the drain with the physical dirt. Smudging with sage is my most common practice when I feel I need something extra. I do the same thing to spiritually cleanse a space - clean it physically and metaphysically at the same time.
I will occassionally do an all-out ritual cleansing with a bath that includes appropriate herbs, then oils and visualizations, but not that frequently. Mainly in preparation for something big.
