I know a few little tricks to get that special person to pay more attention to you, but I haven't ever done any real love magick because I like to let the Powers that Be send the right person my way, instead of me thinking that I know exactly who is right for me. One trick that I have learned to get someone to notice you is to take a picture of you and a picture of the person that you want to pay more attention to you, and tape them together. Then you put the taped pictures somewhere where they won't be disturbed, or on an alter that you have made. Know that this will create a bond between the 2 of you, and it just will. That is the way that magick works. A lot of it is thought power.

I tend to prefer spells to bring "a lover" as opposed to a specific person. Could be my Wicca beginnings. Or maybe I just take the "careful what you wish for" warning to heart.
One spell I know of to bring two specific people together - it also works to patch things up for quarrelling friends or lovers:
Take two red candles and carve them with the names of the two people involved. Annoint with whatever oils or herbs are appropriate for the type of spell (I like lavender for friendship or love, cinnamon or peppers for passion.) Light the candles and place them on opposite ends of a mantlepiece or altar. Let them burn for a specific amount of time while meditating on bringing the people together, then dowse the candles. The next day, at the same time, move the candles a little closer together, light them and repeat the meditation for the same amount of time. Keep doing this every day until the candles meet together in the middle. When the candles meet, so should their hearts. I'd do it the week leading up to the full moon, so that the spell is finished on the night of the full moon itself.

To bring love or a lover into your life, burn a candle (pink for romantic love, red for sexual) and meditate on the flame while focusing on your need. You can add whatever herbs, stones, runes (carved into the candle), or god/goddess images work for you to enhance the spell.
I do a lot of candle magick like this, it's very effective yet simple.

Wow! Thank you Thorn. I have been separated from my Godparents for the past few years, so my learning has slowed down quite a lot. I am going to try one, or both of those rituals because I am looking for a more intimate relationship in my life, one with a person that I have more spiritually in common with, you know?

No problem, glad to help! The second one is best if you don't have a specific person in mind. Let me know how it works out for you!

I will let you know how it works when I feel it has. I am in a strange situation. I am in an open relationship with my ex-husband, and it may be hard for the "Powers That Be" to send someone my way that doesn't mind the situation that I am in.

i wrote a book called "The World's most potent Love Magics" i'm probably one of the world's leading authorities on the subject.
most newage paperbacks you'll find really don't teach you anything about spells, and the authors are either total crackpots, or liars. i've never actually found a book on love magick that was real, that is why i had to write the book, lol.
when it comes to casting spells, most people have the wrong idea. and it's not really something you can learn from a book, you need to be shown magical art to really learn about it- just like anything else in life.
doing altarwork, or rituals, is not the means to the end, as most people think it is- and is why most people are deluding themselves about there magic powers. the purpose of the altar or the ritual is only to bring your bodymind into focus, for right time right place- your will. words & deeds, and the temple designs or the altar, are only there to remind you that you that U/R in charge of the manfacturing your dream reality.
And what this means is- What you are doing during the whole rest of the day is more important than what you are doing in front of your altar, your spell casting.
in order to cast a spell properly you have got to exude the proper energy into all things in your life, into the way you talk to yourself, your family, strangers, the things you watch on tv, the food you eat, everything.
and if you fail to understand that simple fact, magic will never work for you. it's not about the words & deeds of the ritual ceremony at all- it's about what you are doing afterwards.
Magick is Change, transformation. And by trying to cast a love spell on someone to bring them closer into your life, you've got to change something inside of yourself. U/R a microcosm of the whole world, and the universe.
There is only one thing that causes change to occur- Love. So you must be in the midst of a "love spell" all the time in order to work magic of anykind.
Here is a saying of mine- Men bare women, and women bare children.
What this means is, if a man understands the universe enough to use magic, it means all he need do is formulate his perfect idea of a woman counterpart in his mind, and let it set within his bodymind for a month, and it will gestate, and the woman will appear to him.
I've done this many times of course. Also it should be known that when you are casting love spells, like thorn said, it's best to not focus on one personality. Because the truth is, we all have the same God/Goddess within us. And you should worship that force, not the personality of your lover. If one is faciliating that force properly, one will be beautiful no matter what.
Being in love, in holy matrimony, the male and female are co-existing in a balance the force of which turns the whole world. The Magic is constantly growing as their miracle unfolds.
I better derail here, this is becoming to long a post for anybody to read it.

Yes, I agree with you Michael - at the heart of it, all the trappings of magick and ritual are just means of focusing your Will towards your goal. If someone is advanced enough, they can simply meditate on a goal and have it fulfilled.
The rest of us need a little help. I find that going through the motions of a ritual or spell allows me to shift into the right frame of mind to make things happen, activates the imagination and shuts down the analytical a little. I would guess that certain types of spell work are effective for larger numbers of people because they trigger things that are shared in our psyches. (Also, certain things do have innate energies that can augment your own - herbs and stones and such. They are not the important part, however.)
Afterwards, everything is changed. You are changed. Your actions and interactions become attuned with your goal - not automatically, but because the knowledge that "magick is afoot" makes you act deliberately. At least in my case.
The real trick is in realizing that magick is always afoot.

I would have to agree with you both about magick in general. It is lived and breathed in my household, although I still have one daughter that can't stand the fact that I am a practitioner! Funny girl, she asks for my tarot readings quite often, but isn't happy with my choice of spiritual paths, LOL! ;D
