So... Do you celebrate chrismas or yule, or nothing at all? And why? How will you spend the holidays?

I will be celebrating Christmas. We always put up a tree, and I usually decorate about 3 weeks ahead of time, so we can get nice and tired of the Christmas decorations before we have to take them down. If I am not dieting, I will bake every day during the holidays. I like to bake cookies, and I make a lot of different kinds. My family looks forward to the Christmas time, because unfortunately it is the only time that I bake any more. Last year we had Dean's entire family here, and it was really hard for me. I am not used to having big parties in my house, and we weren't really ready for that. So this year I am not going to have the whole family at my house. I'm just not ready to do that again.

We'll probably have dinner at my brother in laws as usual. Other than that, we don't really celebrate Xmas, even secularly,+ since we're always so strapped for cash.
I'd like to have a Yule log, but no fire place. Besides, Yule is a pretty riduculous holiday to celebrate in Phoenix where the over night lows don't even reach freezing temperatures. I used to like decorating with lights and evergreens, but again - it just feels silly here. Totally out of touch with reality.
I'll probably do some private meditations on Midwinter, but I never feel particularly festive this time of year.
I do like the pretty lights though. Maybe I'll decorate a cactus...

This is the hardest Christmas I think that I have ever had this year, but I am doing my best to get through it without crying much at least, for the kids sake. I hope that I feel better today so that I can accomplish my Christmasy goals somehow. And I really hope that every one is having a much better holiday season than I am this year. A very merry Christmas to you Pledm, and to every one else too who reads this.

Don't cry Debbie. We all try to do the best we can for our kids but we are not perfect, even if people expect us to be.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

How will you celebrate Christmas THIS year? Over here it will be very modest. Good films to watch and some nice treats. A visit with my mom and sister. Only a few presents. How about you?
And Merry Christmas by the way :-)

I will gorge myself on all the silly Xmas TV. It is one of the few times of the year that I watch hours of TV. I will list to my stomach and not overeat. I will also put out my special mat out once our guest has turned up ( Mum in LAw). The mat goes outside the door and reads "Fuck Off". I will turn my brain off for a few days. We have the decorations up and have done all the shopping before the Xmas zombies get out.
I used to work in Safeways as a kid and Xmas was mental so I like to take it all slow. I will also call me mother on Xmas eve and remind her to take it easy and not overdo it this Xmas. I hate the way that people go nuts and by like a months food for the two days.
I also registered my Taxes today as a self employed person.
One Xmas I will be a volunteer at Crisis at Xmas as it is better to remember those who do not have than the consumerist orgy of Xmas.
Merry Xmas Everyone

LOL at the mat, Pablo! I sure could've used one of those a couple of years ago. I'm glad you get to watch TV and turn your brain off for the day.
I'm going to be on a train because I sort of missed the last train that I tried to get on a week ago. They wouldn't check my baggage and I had far too much to carry on and off myself. Luckily I will make it over to my kids and grandkids in WA State by 3 pm Christmas day. So I told my 2 oldest Grandchildren I would be one of their biggest presents this year, LOL! So that's what I'm doing for Christmas this year.
