I thought I'd start a thread to assist newbies such as myself, and ask for recommendations for 5 must-have books to assist me in my Spiritual Learning
From my point of view, I have many personal ideas about what I believe, but I don't know if they fit in with any recognised "faith", or belief-systemso any guidance will be much appreciated
;D

I would have to recommend "Illusions, the Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah," by Richard Bach. It is the first book I read on my spiritual quest for knowledge, and it really opened my mind on a lot of subjects and made me rethink my boundaries. I would also have to recommend "Autobiography of a Yogi", by Paramahansa Yogananda, a yogi from India, who was also a Christian. The accounts of how his Master's taught him while he was learning are astounding! It is amazing what some people are capable of. I learned to re-evaluate my boundaries again, after reading this book. Here is a link to the foundation that Paramahansa Yogananda started here in the USA where you can buy the book if you are interested: www.yogananda-srf.org/Mary Summer Rain has written some really good books about the Native American Indian spiritual path too. Her first 3 books are one's I'd recommend as well. I have given away all of my copies of my Mary Summer Rain books, and I can't remember the title's of them. But I think that her very first book is titled "Spirit Song", and it would be the next 2 books right after that. I will think about this some more, and see if I can come up with any other ideas.

I would suggest Dreams of Isis by Normadi Ellis and her book translating the Egyptian book - Coming forth by Day. This lady has a gift of writing and translating the ancient into a flowing beautiful read. Not to mention lots of great information.

That sounds like an enchanting read. I have always loved anything Egyptian, so I'm sure I would enjoy this authors books. I am going to have to check Normadi Ellis out.

The Spiral Goddess by Starhawk The Pagan Book of Living and Dying by Starhawk The Pagan Bible by Melvin Gorham The Story of B by Daniel Quinn Gifts of Unknown Things by Lyall Watson Spell of the Sensuous by David Abram The last three books are not specifically Wiccan, Magick, or Pagan books by description, but these books went a long way in opening my mind to the wonders of nature and the essence that permiates and connects all things. The Story of B presents a mindset that seriously resinates with me. You can check out further book reviews under the "favorites" tab on my website at... www.freewebs.com/jetxa/
