Do you believe that time actually exists, or that it's just a thing we made up to file events in a practical way?

I will have to think about this one some more. So I chose not sure.

Linear time seems necessary in order for there to be cause and effect, or responsibility for actions. I tend to see time as a river: it only flows naturally in one direction, but the whole river exists concurrent with itself. If you're willing to put in a lot of extra effort you might just be able to alter your position relative to the current (and moving downstream would be a lot easier than going back upstream...)
If that makes any sense at all...
(I voted "not sure," btw - because I can't really think of any metaphysical questions that I'm actually "sure" about.)

Time for me is an illusion. For example: tommorow can't possibly exist because if it did, then I'd be able to read tomorrow's newspaper. I make an attempt to just live in the here and now. That's not always successful though and If I'm not carefull, I try to go back and fight old battles. I have no control over the "past", and I have even less control over the "future". That's not to say that I don't make plans, have dreams and goals etc. it' just that the future isn't really up to me. It's controlled by The Most High and whatever I plan usually never works out the way I'd wish anyway. Sometimes it actually works out better! We can discuss parallel universes, past lives, etc.in another thread I suppose, or did I just contradict myself?..... Anyway I enjoy think about these things and discussing it with others. Maybe some day we'll know the truth. And that's part of why I'm on this QUEST.

I agree with the way you try to live; in the present. It is the best way to live in my opinion. One seems to get more out of life if it is lived one day at a time. But I am still undecided about whether or not time actually exists to me. I have had some quantum experiences that showed me personally in my life that time can bend and leap all over the place at times. So I don't think that time is unchangeable. But does it exist? That's a tough one for me.
