Right now: Planet X - Moonbabies. This is a band I can recommend to anyone who is into Prog Metal Fusion and technical brilliance. They are fantastic! "When I started Planet X, I had one goal: to start the sickest instrumental band in the world. I wanted to find musicans that played their instruments so fiercely, it would strike fear in the hearts of other musicians when they played," declares the group's founder Derek Sherinian. Despite being highly technical players, the individual members - keyboardist Sherinian, drummer Virgil Donati, and guitarist Tony MacAlpine - strive for cohesion over chaos. Sound samples: www.xplanetx.com/multimedia-sounds.htmlThis drummer is a GOD: www.xplanetx.com/theband-virgbio.htmlwww.virgildonati.com/What are you listening to right now? Anything to recommend?

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer: Brain-Salad Sugery this album really is ELP's Led Zeppelin IV. Now, I would write a whole essay on why I recommend them, but instead, why not just download and listen to the following MP3 tracks? All of them make up the 30 minute piece "Karn Evil 9," found on the album Brain-Salad Surgery. Karn Evil 9 is definitely ELP's Stairway to Heaven, although it is a lot longer, and not played so often (well, except for 1st Impression, Part 2, which I guarantee you have all heard at least once in your lives): Karn Evil 9- 1st Impression, Pt. 1Karn Evil 9- 1st Impression, Pt. 2Karn Evil 9- 2nd ImpressionKarn Evil 9- 3rd ImpressionThis is another band that I think has White Magick in their music. Although, considering all of them were Christian (though non-practicing), I doubt it's intentional like with Led Zeppelin's music. I do believe in the White Magick in their music namely because they are the only other band for which I had a dream experience. It was similar to the dream I had about Led Zeppelin and Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, only in the ELP dream, the song was Pirates (hence the dream was a bit longer), and no dog was involved. However, I now remember that entire concert as if I was there. To confirm this, I not only have pics, but I have the bootleg recording of this concert. The recording goes by the name The Velvet Couts of Pirates (<linky). And even wierder, I think (although I'm not sure) whoever I was at the time was the one who made this particular recording. If you guys like these tracks, I'll put a couple more on this post. But not too many. If you like them enough, I would suggest you start buying their albums. To get started I would suggest either The Ultimate Collection, The Best of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, or The Very Best of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Now, considering all of them are Greatest Hits sets, I do not recommend getting all three. Get the Ultimate Collection and one of the others, or just one of the three. Then, if you're hooked from there, start getting the albums, but in order. BTW, the album names are links to their respective pages on Amazon.

I am listening to Pat metheney His guitaris so lyrical. Pat is a really grounded person that took time to come out to talk to fans after his London tour.

Metheny is wonderful. If you ever get a chance to see him in a small venue, do so! (I saw him at the Cottonbowl as part of a festival, and it just wasn't the same.)
Right now, I'm listening to Django Reinhardt. Wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I definately get it!

Jimmy
Brain Salad Surgery is a great album. I always loved tghe HR Giger album cover. And Still ...is still a lovely song. Tarkus is a wild album but perhaps not as subtle.
THE beauty of loving bands that were great in the 70s is that you can pick up their CDs cheap. I picked up the vd cheap. I am not sure that ELP are an all time favourite but they are good.

I like YES! I mostly listen to sixties psychedelia and seventies rock/prog but I keep an open mind and like a lot of the recent stuff coming out too.
Playing now: "Doctor Doctor" by UFO from the Strangers in the night album. After this album is finished I will play "Fire and Water" with FREE and then it's bed for me.

I did a roud trip with my GF this last weekend adnteh soundtrack was Led Zep's BBC sessions which I never hear before. It is interesting hearing the varinces from established studio tracks. But it is probably a CD for those needing to have every albumn.
