Is anyone here interested in Qabbalah? The more occult and magickal version of the Jewish kabbalistic mysticism? Here is a link to a page that is mainly about the Hermetic Qabbalah: www.kheper.net/topics/Hermeticism/Qabalah.htm

When I talk about the Wizardry that I have practised, it includes the study of the Qabbalah. Although I will admit that I didn't study it as well as I should have. The symbols for all of the different sephirophs on the Tree of Life are used to draw on things and make amulets or talismans with. I never did this myself in that way yet, but may still use the information I learned later on in life. In the Wizardry rituals that I performed before I became Santaria, I spoke many Hebrew names of God aloud as a part of the rituals, to surround myself and my home in protection. That is the part of the Wizardry that I was primarily attracted to at the time. The Qabbalah is quite complicated knowledge, and it seems to me that one could study it for one's whole life and still be learning constantly.

I've been studying quabbalah off and on for years now, and I know I'll never learn it all. Judeo-Christian mysticism is fascinating stuff. I don't use a lot of it in practice, though. Like many of my occult studies, the interest is more intellectual than practical.

So would I be wrong in thinking that the first Wizards were probaly Jewish? After all, the Hebrew alphabet/symbols are used in a lot of what I used to practise. At least in the books that I studied, that is?
